E Komo Mai! On behalf of the men and women of the of the Law Enforcement (LE) divisions of the Department of Public Safety I would like to welcome you to our website. The Sheriff Division (SD) is the first LE organization in Hawaii established by the Hawaiian Monarchy in 1864 and still providing 169+ years of state law enforcement support in honor of its’ proud legacy. The Narcotics Enforcement Division (NED) is the lead state agency monitoring and preventing the illegal diversion of pharmaceutical drugs and providing investigative services to county, state and federal agencies. We need your support in keeping our communities safe and encourage you to contact us if you have any concerns regarding the safety of your neighborhood. As public servants we are committed to the Health, Safety and Welfare of our island communities and proudly execute our mission to uphold justice by enforcing the law with professionalism, integrity, and fairness across the State of Hawaii.
Narcotics Enforcement Division
The Narcotics Enforcement Division (NED) serves and protects the public by enforcing laws relating to controlled substances and regulated chemicals. They are responsible for the registration and control of the manufacture, distribution, prescription, and dispensing of controlled substances and precursor or essential chemicals within the State.
The Sheriff Division carries out law enforcement services statewide. Its mission is to preserve the peace by protecting all persons and property within premises under the control of the Judiciary and all State facilities; providing process services and execution of court documents; handling detained persons; and providing secure transportation for persons in custody. It also provides law enforcement services at the Honolulu International Airport.
